I am so fucking jealous that you are allowed to take as many pics as you like at Europe concerts, and I am supposed to be lucky if I have the guts to shoot 10 pics at PK gigs - really isn't fair.... Evil or Very Mad
Could almost hate PK for this attitude, but what can I do, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE his music. Luv

I think its quite funny, Europe are my Scandinavian neighbours, and I have absolutely no clue, who's Joey or john. Embarassed
Guess I have something in common with John after all - The wet shirt - that is... Laughing

@My: Sure you can re-arrange the order of the pictures. I'm sorry that you couldn't take as many pics as you wanted to. When I saw W.A.S.P. last year there was this stupid security guy who didn't want anyone to take pictures Nix but I took a few, though when he wasn't near me tongue

Had to tell her about Tramp, and the way he reacts even though he hates all the pics that we are taking, and she just said: That is different, because you practically grew up with him. Lame excuse. What a Face

PostSubject: Re: EUROPE   23.02.07 18:47

I still can’t believe we did it!!!
It started with this crazy idea of mine when I saw the tour dates of “Europe” that were
left after their last gig in Germany. I was still hungry after the awesome show
in Nuremberg on Feb. 4th (my first Europe-concert!!!) and I just
didn’t wanna wait for the next tour! Anyways, the 16th of February
was a Friday and that’s when they were playing in Paris…Paris…I’ve never been
there before. Yes, that could be an exciting trip. When I told Jens about it he
probably thought I’ve lost it but once an idea is stuck in my mind I don’t get
rid off it anymore. I signed up for the German “Europe-Forum”, opened a new
topic and got some useful information from other crazy Europe-Fans. And there
was a girl who wanted to join us so we planned the whole thing together.
Unfortunately there was no way of getting cheap flight or train tickets so the
only way to go to Paris was by car. After we found a way to get tickets for the
show (thanks to Farida and her sister Leila!!!) we were ready to rock the night
in Paris! On Thursday Night we left Nuremberg behind us and went to Herne (near
Cologne) to pick up Sandra, the girl from the Europe-Forum. Somehow we figured
out the best route even though my road atlas pretty much sucked! The highway
through Belgium seemed to be endless and the very yellow street lighting
started to get on our nerves at a certain point of time. But then…I don’t know
how many hours later, we saw the border and a sign that said “France”- yay!!!
On Friday morning, 40 km away from Paris we had a little “Nap Time” cause it
was a looooooooong long drive, especially for poor my Jens who was driving all
the 1000 km!!! Thank you so much, Wuschl!!! Only you made this whole adventure
possible!!!
We arrived in Paris and stopped at a gas station cause we didn’t have the slightest idea
of how to get to the venue (“Elysee Montmartre”) There was this nice and
helpful taxi driver but he only spoke very little English (like most people in
France). He tried to explain us the way and it seemed pretty simple. When
Sandra and I came back from the bathroom he gave us a sign to follow him and
soon we realized it wasn’t simple at all!!! Traffic in Paris is just a big
mess! Everyone drives the way he wants. We just followed the taxi driver.
Nobody cared that we were on the bus lane…signs and traffic lights are probably
only there for street decoration. Finally we saw the “Elysee M.”. It was
10:30am and there were a few people waiting already!
We left the car in a parking garage because we were told NOT to park at the sidewalk (we
saw the cars at the sidewalk and some of them looked really bad). Dressed for
the show we stepped outside on the streets of Paris. It was Montmartre, the
artists’ (and erotic) quarter. After lunch at a French “McDonald’s” (Jens was
shocked about the disgusting bathrooms…lucky me, I didn’t have to go there) we
stopped at a few souvenir shops and found a German flag which Sandra bought so
“Europe” can see that we were coming a long way just to see them again. Finally
we stood in front of the “EM”. It was 12:30pm. That’s where we spent the next 6
½ hours!!! There were a few annoying fans. The good thing was that noone there
knew our language (except for this funny guy from Poland whom we talked to) so
we made fun of them. They probably did the same in French or Spanish. What else
is there to do when you have to wait for more than 6 hours? And we couldn’t
trust our eyes when we saw this old lady with her purple Diva-Outfit…YIKES!!!!
She must have been 70 years old or something, I’m not kidding! I only hoped
that the band would not see her. They’d probably get scared and leave the stage
immediately! So we made our jokes until the pushing and squeezing got really
bad, especially around 6pm. We could see all the security guys through the
doors and they looked like nothing was going to happen. One ate a sandwich,
another one talked on the phone, some of them were fooling around and outside
the fans became more and more crazy. We just couldn’t stand anymore after such
a long time! But they were just laughing and I was about to kill’em! FINALLY,
around 7pm they opened the doors on the sides and we would have gotten a better
place in the first row if I didn’t have a backpack (but I needed it) and if
Sandra had a regular ticket (she had an online ticket and had to go to a
counter first) but she was there before us and saved us the last places in the
first row, on the very left side, right in front of the speakers. We weren’t
even there for 5 minutes and the security guy asked us to change our places
with a little boy (6 or 7 years old) but there was no way we’d let that happen
cause we didn’t come all the way from Germany and waited almost 7 hours just so
that a little kid can be in the first row. We tried to explain that to the French
security guy but he probably didn’t understand much of what we said. But he saw
that we were so not okay with that and we were really pissed. The parents
didn’t seem to understand that a little kid is not supposed to go to a rock
concert, at least not in the first row, right next to the speakers!!!
There was a support band but I don’t remember the name. Nobody really wanted to see them
and they left the stage after 4 or 5 songs again.
8:30pm: EUROPE stepped on the stage!!! It was soooo cool to see them again! They were
in a much better mood than in Nuremberg (not that they were in a bad mood in N.
but the fans in Paris were crazier, I guess) and they played “Seven Doors
Hotel”, a pretty old but very good song! John Leven (Bass) and Mic Michaeli (keys)
were right in front of me so I took a few good pics of them. Sandra and I were
holding the German Flag and Joey Tempest came over to our side. He recognized
Sandra cause she had a Meet & Greet with the band the week before. Lucky
girl! The setlist was pretty much the same and Joey made his old jokes again
but he could make them a hundred times and the fans would still like it.
There’s just so much charme and naturalness in these guys, you can only love
them…a terrific, very successful Swedish Rock Band, back in their old formation
(like 1983) and they totally rocked the night in Paris! They played a nice
combo of old and new songs. Of course there’s always songs you’re missing but
if they played the favorite songs of each single fan they’d be on the stage for
4 hours or even longer. The fans would love that of course but we gotta give
the guys a break.
So after “The Final Countdown” (I think everybody remembers that song) a great show was
over again but this time we wouldn’t leave so soon, like in Nuremberg. We
waited 1 and a half hour until Mic came out first and gave autographs. He was
really patient and polite. Next one was Ian (drums). He even had a little
conversation with Sandra and me. He was probably glad that finally someone
could talk English (they had a Meet & Greet with like 20 fans before and
most of them were French so…) And I didn’t even had to ask, he asked me if I
want a picture of me and him!!! What a question, Ian! He’s such a sweet guy!
Well, usually they ALL come out after the show to give autographs and stuff but
outside of the “Elysee” was a big crowd of fans waiting for the band to come
outside cause the tour bus was parked on the sidewalk already. So after Ian the
security guys said “That’s it” and we had to go. Just a few minutes later the
band came down the stairs of the “Elysee” and stepped outside. Dammit,
everything happened so fast and I couldn’t take a pic of Joey. He was so close
for a couple seconds. BUT I got to touch his winter coat!!! They said “Thank
you and Goodbye” and got in the bus. Bye bye, Europe!!! Come back soon again!
Next time I want an autograph and picture of each of you guys!!!!
Sandra, Jens and I went back to the parking garage and went to the North Station cause
Sandra went home by train. A policeman told me how to get on the highway
towards Germany and it didn’t even take so long until we found it. You can’t
imagine how happy we were to get out of Paris with all its crazy drivers. I
wish I could’ve had a chance to see other parts of the city (esp. the Eiffel Tower)
but we just didn’t have the time for sightseeing! I’d love to go to Paris again
sometime but definitly not by car again!

Yes, Julia, you definitly HAVE to see them next time they're coming to Germany. I hope it's gonna happen soon.
Yeah, the concert could've been a little longer. They only played 90 minutes Crying or Very sad but those 90 minutes were the best!!! I think, next time I'm going to see them in Bochum cause the audience must be something else there! They played 2 hours! NOT FAIR!!! Anyways, they played "Seven Doors Hotel" in Paris and that was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!!
Did I miss a question now?
